What Makes A Good Trading Course?

A friend just asked for my opinion whether it’s worth the money to enroll for a trading course at a certain amount of money above SGD 2k. Besides that, he also asked me to advise him for the best local guru in town.

Well, i shared with him my personal opinion that when i first started, I did it my own way and it was a pain in my ass that i just couldn’t get anything right. Yes, sometime I had successive profitable trades out of nothing which I had doubt in myself in repeating it again and that’s why I joined a trading seminar although I had already started trading. And only via the seminar I learnt more about money management and other forms of strategies that later I developed my own methods which makes me where I am now.

So, do we enroll for the best seminars or cheapest? Or do we go for reputation or those that teach you the most strategies. Hmmm.. confusing when it comes to selecting the best guru, right?

I couldn’t recommend to him anyone specifically based on his budget and other factors but what I shared with him was that if I would want to choose a seminar to attend now, the main driving force would not be the strategies that I’m gonna learn from them anymore, it’s about the trading experience of that particular guru that I’m gonna take home with me.

For me, if I could learn one simple and unique money management strategy that would benefit me in future, I would think it’s well worth every single cents that I paid.

So, does it mean that the longer the gurus have been in the market, the better the experience they would have? And of course the answer is a definite No.

What I suggest to him the best way is to talk to the past graduates who had completed the program and asked for their opinion as I’m not in a position to judge and give any comment on their courses as I believe every gurus has their own unique selling proposition and it depends on what you really want.

However, my opinion of a good course to newbies is the course must impart the importance of proper money management to the students in the first place as well as teaching them a simple yet powerful system to generate income consistently. The other thing is the guru must be dedicated to teach and share during and after the official seminar with proper follow up system to make sure the student would not be left alone.

That’s all I can say and good luck to you if you are reading this and you know who you are.
